Cold End (Cold Zone), CE, C/E

Last Update 3 years ago

Un-heated zone at each end of a metal sheathed tubular heating element. Designated in inches or mm. The terminal pin at each end of the element is made from various length rods that protrude into the heater tube where it is welded to the resistance wire.

The cold end must be selected carefully when designing elements to pass through insulated voids in oven or furnace walls or air gaps or stand-offs. Care must be taken when designing bends so that the junction of the cold end and resistance wire is not within the bend zone.
